4 year old was injured at Colorado football practice after a tackle!

Posted by Pete on April 25th, 2007

This could of really hurt! A Colorado football player wasn’t expecting this future defensive player to be in the way was he came in for a touchdown. Carefully looking at this video you see the player make that last second move to shift his helmet out of the way of this poor kid’s head.

The child had no serious injuries as a result of this knock down, although he did get some stitches which is serious enough for this toddler. I haven’t seen any comments regarding the player’s fast thinking movement, so kudos goes out to the player, this could of turned very badly without his instant reaction timing.

Feisty Fawn Ubuntu 7.04 released!

Posted by Pete on April 20th, 2007

Ubuntu Feisty Fawn was released yesterday.
Be sure to go over the Release Notes for upgrade / installation instructions.
If you are new to Ubuntu, you should take the 7.04 Tour and take a peak at all the features you get for free.
My personal experience with Ubuntu has been fantastic, I have been dual booting on my laptop with it for quite some time and I use it more than XP, easily running email, music, video, internet browsing, skype, google talk, and any other applications you can think of. It’s the best free solution for anyone not wanting to upgrade and spend big money for another virus ridden system.

Froogle is now Google Product Search

Posted by Pete on April 19th, 2007

Froogle.com is no more, as of today Google has renamed it to Google Product Search. This should streamline Google into a mean shopping search machine.

Froogle

Today, we’re making some changes to how we help users find things to buy. You may be familiar with our product Froogle (a pun on “frugal”). Froogle offers a lot of great functionality and has helped many users find things to buy over the years, but the name caused confusion for some because it doesn’t clearly describe what the product does.

Crocodile with arm in mouth – Yummy!

Posted by Pete on April 17th, 2007

A few days ago I read about a Veterinarian Chang Po-yu who was reaching through iron bars to remove tranquilizer darts from a huge (400 lbs) crocodile, which was not exactly snoozing, when the crocodile bit down and took the guy’s arm off.
I think this will make anyone who currently treats these dangerous beasts think twice before sticking thier arm anywhere.

From the pics shown, it looked like the croc got the better half below his elbow. Pretty gruesome, you are warned!

Five GOOD Reasons to turn down a potential client

Posted by Pete on April 16th, 2007

Tyler Lemieux explains some of the complications that comes with the business of web design. Knowing where to put on the brakes when the client tries to spin things around on you is important, because it can cost you in the end.
I enjoyed the article, as I’ve run into some of the same situations.

I’ve been through my fair share of clients, well over a hundred successful transactions in the past two years for that matter, and I’ve come to know when a project is worth taking on or not. As a freelance designer, I know that time was of utmost importance. Knowing when to drop a potential project can mean hundreds (and in some cases, thousands) of dollars, not to mention precious time.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are domestic terrorists…

Posted by Pete on April 14th, 2007

Don’t take my word for it. Jason Whitlock speaks to CNN about his feelings on the whole Imus issue. You can another video on CNN with Jason Whitlock and Al Sharpton, but you’ll have to search for it there.
There’s also some more comments from Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee defending Imus that you may find interesting.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are domestic terrorists lighting fires and picking everyone’s pocket on the way out of town. Jackson should be down at Duke apologizing to those lacrosse players – he owes them an apology for stirring up that mess. Black America is tired of Jackson.

I personally am not an Imus fan, but I do feel this guy has been strung up by the lynch mob.
