Dog the Bounty hunter no longer wanted!

Posted by Pete on August 4th, 2007

I read recently that they finally let “Dog” Chapman off the hook and he’s no longer wanted in Mexico. Good news for Dog, he didn’t deserve that, hope he makes sure it’s legal next time he’s “out of town”.

A judge has canceled an order for the arrest of Chapman, who for more than three years has faced the possibility of extradition to serve a jail sentence in Mexico, attorney Eduardo Amerena told Reuters.

“Chapman can now be in Mexico without any problem,” Amerena said.

Wordpress and Joomla themes tampered with?

Posted by Pete on August 3rd, 2007

Looks like some themes were tampered with and being re-distributed by Templates Browser which are modified in such a way that it is exploiting the end user by inserting hidden spam or malware links. If you have downloaded any recent theme for your Wordpress or Joomla site, I would check the code to see if it’s legit!Bad News

The links are inserted via an additional functions.php file which is included with the theme downloads. If you’re shopping around for public themes, I strongly recommend that you download directly from the original authors website.

Geek Squad plants cam in shower and gets caught!

Posted by Pete on April 12th, 2007

Best Buy and Geek Squad are being sued because of a technician (Hao Kuo Chi) who was making a house call to do some computer work. Apparently the tech conveniently left his cell phone in the bathroom, video recording, just before one of the home’s occupants went in to take a shower.

Not too long after the woman finished drying herself off she noticed a phone with the little red blinking light there, called in her sister who did her own little tech work on the phone to remove the memory card, went to the phone store, watched herself naked in the shower… To make a longer story short, the two sisters called Mom at home and told her to stall the tech as police arrived and arrested the Geek Squad employee.

A big “Thank You” goes out to the useless GeekSquad whom managed to put out a good name for all the real technicians out in the world not looking to rip off and video innocent clueless people.
